"Find something you're passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it." ~Julia Child

Luv2Cook

I am a single mother of two beautiful children Ben and Sophia. Together the three of us are setting out to explore all things culinary. We are planning on sharing all of our experiences such as creating a new recipe, making sweet treats, finding interesting places to eat, and whatever else we decide to share. The most important thing is to get them involved in the whole process so that they wont be so picky and hopefully gain an appreciation for ingredients.

Crab Boil

Start with a Big Pot!

Our Family use's this Seasoning
8 LB's of Snow Crab Cluster's

Red Potatoes and Fresh Corn

What else is there to say but Yum!
My parent's and sister and brother-in-law came over for the afternoon and we prepared a Crab Boil. I got 8 pounds of snow crab for us since we don't live near the coast it was frozen. I also got corn and potatoe's to through into the pot as well. I would have added a good sausage, but my mom doesn't eat pork or beef so we just kept it simple. My sis and bro lived in Louisiana for a few years before moving here and so they get us enormous containers of the creole seasoning and extra spicy is a must for our family. I have to say thank you to my baby sis for getting through all that crab and cracking it for us because I hate doing it! It's worth it though and we have leftover's to make some yummy dishes this week!

Zuchini Bread.....Transformed

The Main Ingredient ~ Zuchini Shredded

Butterfly Bundt Pan
Heart Bundt Pan

Both Cakes lightly dusted with powdered sugar

See the pretty flecks of green from the Zuchini
My parent's moved into their new home this year and my mom was able to sow her garden and we have been reaping the benefits already. Grocery store produce just doesn't compare to straight from  the garden fruits and vegetables. She defintely has a green thumb, which I sure did not inherit. I would love to have my own garden, not that I have the time at this point. So there are no complaints from my sister or myself getting whatever is ready from her garden every time we see her. One of the vegetables she brought was zuchini. I decided to make a zuchini bread and baked in 2 of my bundt pans. They turned out so cute and my sister photographed the cakes and did a great job! Love you sis! If you haven't tried zuchini bread, think of a carrot cake, you can't taste the zuchini but it adds a wonderful texture to the bread as well as being pleasing to the eye when you cut into it. It's a great bread to take to a neighbor or work in the spring and summer month's.

No Bake Cookie Bar Treats

Ingredients

Ingredients Mixed and spead in a pan

Let set and cut into bars

These bars are so easy to make and you only need 3 ingredients, store bought cookies, marshmallows and butter. Crush the cookies, melt the butter and marshmallows then mix into the cookies then spread into a pan. Let set until firm and then they are ready to eat. You could do this with any store bought cookie...... Oreo's would be really good!  I had these 4th of July Chips Ahoy that I wanted to use up. These are an easy go to treat if you dont have a lot of time or have cookies you want to use up.

Chicken Veggie Pasta Bake

Bucatini~ Spaghetti Noodles with holes in the Middle
Noodles Cooked

Vegetables and Chicken Cooked

Pasta Bake Assembled and topped with
4 Cheeses
Pasta Bake baked and cheese melted

I went to the bakery down the street to get the kiddo's some donuts. The owner is Italian so in addition to have a large selection of donuts, she had Italian pastries and breads as well as imported ingredients like olive oil and dry pasta's. I picked the bucatini up and decided to make dinner using it. The shape of the pasta holds up to the tomato sauce, vegetables, chicken, and cheeses nicely. Add a salad and some fresh bread and dinner is served.

 Ridiculously Good!
This weekend we had some free time and spent most of the time in the kitchen either cooking, baking or eating, lol. We wanted to make some treats for my parents neighbors and decided to make these too good for words creations. It's so easy all you need is cookie dough(homemade or store bought) and a package of oreo's. Enrobe the oreo's in the cookie dough, place on a cookie sheet and bake. Below we tried to stuff other ingredients in Double Chocolate Cookies. Twice as good!!!! Enjoy the pics and they taste even better than the pics if you can imagine.

Slicing the Kimbob Rolls

Kimbob all cut

My beautiful Mom
I always look forward to going to my parents house and one of the reasons is because my mom always cooks for us. This is one of the dishes that she whips up for a snack or for this day a light lunch. My sister and me were watching her while she made the kimbob and were eating as she was cutting. By the time she had cut the rolls we had eaten most of it!
***Mise en Place was a culinary term I learned in cooking school where you prep and cut everything before you start to prepare your dish.
